PBS Remembers again and again and again........

I noticed that PBS television has an interesting theme to their programming. Often when I channel surf I'll stop on PBS to see what's on. It's seems as though I keep seeing an image of past black oppression. Civil rights riots with white officials firehosing young black men and women, governors using the n-word. And of course the slave owners hitting young, subserviant, pretty black women. Is it important to keep seeing the images over and over again? Can this help whites and blacks understand each other and actually like to be around each other? Just asking the question.

I'm white. Yes I think that does matter. However, I am divorced from a black woman since 1992. I have 2 teenage children by her that live with me. They're great kids.
