Going to be playing back at church with the adult choir. I think it will be a good fit for me because it's later in the morning which is very helpful on the home front. Also, its very organized and many new songs to learn and in the book keys!

Been listening to a lot of Steve Hackett especially the Tokyo Tapes. How does he do it? Amazing.

I think I will commit to 1 lesson from either Hard Rock Survival Guide Lead or Rhythm everyday. Along with working on my 3 songs. I'm partially into all 3 so I will post progress in 1 month. I expect to have learned all 3 songs and also score myself on Truefire lessons completed

Current Rock Metal Songs I'm learning

  • Iron Maiden - The Trooper
  • Iron Maiden - Aces High

Who do I want to be when I grow up? Well it's always been about the guitar. Going to rest and think about myself here.

I think I just want to be able to play songs but what kind of songs. What kind of guitar do I like well everything really.

What are some guitarists I admire? Who do I want to be able to play like there's so many but what touches my heart?

Let me start just blogging about fav guitarists from over the years.

  • Terry Clements -> Gordon Lightfoot
  • Gordon Lightfoot
  • Toni Iommi -> Black Sabbath
  • John Denver
  • George Harrison
  • BB King
  • Albert King
  • Muddy Waters
  • Neil Young
  • Freddy King
  • Eric Clapton
  • Alex Lifeson
  • Keith Richards
  • Dave Murray - Adrien Smith
  • Joe Perry - Brad Whitford
  • Paul Simon
  • Ritchie Blackmore
  • Brian May
  • Mick Ronson
  • Tom Petty - Mike Campbell
  • Duane Allman
  • Jimmy Page
  • David Crosby
  • David Gilmore
Now I think I can learn a ton of songs by these players and pick up lots of technique along the way.

So I love acoustic music and roots type music. Don't know lots of players but like the sound. Also love the blues and classic rock. I have 2 musical situations going on. First is playing classic metal-rock with great friend and catholic church situation. How do I get better in those settings. I guess I should just learn songs and work on a notebook of technique deficiencies.

I'd like to actually take 2 paths. One is working on classic rock and early metal on electric and acoustic music based around my favorite players. This leaves a hole. What about classic blues that I love and church songs. This is important do I need to work on this too? Maybe it's too much?

I wonder if it would make sense to learn top to bottom 1 song by each artist? I think that would keep me fresh. Of course this leaves practice holes but I just want to learn songs for a while. When I see a shortcoming I'll take a note and work on it.

I also have some Truefire courses I can work on. Lets see how this can play out in a practice routine.

I like this poem, it's mysterious

I like this poem. It somewhat speaks to the mystery of being and falling in love.

Where are you going? To Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme.
Remember me to a bonny lass there
For once she was a true lover of mine.
Tell her to make me a cambric shirt,
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme.
Without any needles or thread work'd in it,
And she shall be a true lover of mine.
Tell her to wash it in yonder well,
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme.
Where water ne'er sprung nor drop of rain fell,
And she shall be a true lover of mine.
Tell her to plough me an acre of land,
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme.
Between the sea and the salt sea strand,
And she shall be a true lover of mine.
Tell her to plough it with one ram's horn,
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme.
And sow it all over with one peppercorn,
And she shall be a true lover of mine.
Tell her to reap it with a sickle of leather,
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme.
And tie it all up with a tom tit's feather,
And she shall be a true lover of mine.
Tell her to gather it all in a sack,
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme.
And carry it home on a butterfly's back,
And then she shall be a true lover of mine.

In-Laws in town

We all went to the beach and tried some surf fishing. My father in law Jim loves to fish and he had a great time. However we didn't catch anything. I borrowed my Dad's equipment and we didn't really know what we were doing. The highlight of the day were pods of dolphins playing in the surf for a good hour! Even though I've seen this activity before, It's always amazing. Thank you God for this beautiful earth.

Turned my back and had a house!

I missed going to the house for a couple days. Man I was surprised to find out I now have a recognizable house. They are doing a great job. The work looks like it's being done with great care.

Plumbing is inspected

The plumbing is down and inspected. Of course I had to bring my chief building inspector with me!
